Income Tax Law (Jersey) Amendment Order 2025. Minister for Treasury and Resources.
This Order amends Schedule 5 to the Income Tax (Jersey) Law 1961 ("the Law") to re-insert paragraph 13, which disapplies the definition "distribution" in Article 3AE of the Law to prevent tax under Case V of Schedule D being charged in relation to things that were not chargeable to income tax before 2013. The Order comes into force on the day after it is made.
The Order was made on 25th February 2025 and came into force on 26th February 2025.
Finance (2025 Budget) (Jersey) Commencement Order 2025. Minister for Treasury and Resources.
This Order provides for Article 31 of the Finance (2025 Budget) (Jersey) Law 202- (which increases the number of Commissioners of Appeal from 12 to 14 and provides for the appointment of a Chair and Deputy Chairs) to come into force on 1st March 2025. The rest of the Law came into force on 1st January 2025.
The Order was made on 27th February 2025 and came into force on the same day.
Education (Grants and Allowances) (Jersey) Amendment Order 2025. Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning.
This Order amends the Education (Grants and Allowances) (Jersey) Order2018 (the "2018Order") to–
• increase by 5.2% the thresholds for a student's relevant income for the 2025 academic year;
• increase by 3.1% the tuition fees grant payable to students for the 2025 academic year; and
• increase by 2.5% the maintenance grant and clinical component grant payable to students for the 2025 academic year.
Article1 states that this Order amends the 2018Order.
Article2 inserts a definition of "2025 academic year" into Article1 of the 2018Order, and amends the definition of "relevant income so that it also applies to Article 12A.
Article3 amends Article12 so that the meaning of "maintenance grant" includes grants awarded under new Articles 13BA and 13CA.
Article4 amends Article12A to increase, for the 2025 academic year, the amount of income attributed to a student if the value their relevant assets is more than £500,000.
Article5 amends Article13 to increase the thresholds for a student's relevant income, and to increase tuition fees grants, for the 2025 academic year.
Article6 substitutes Article13B and inserts a new Article13BA. The replacement Article13B states the maximum maintenance grant (which is payable to students whose relevant income is less than £50,000) for only the 2024 academic year. The new Article13BA increases the income threshold for payment of the maximum maintenance grant to £52,600, and states the maximum maintenance grant, for the 2025 academic year.
Article7 amends Article13C so that it applies only to the 2024 academic year.
Article8 inserts a new Article13CA, which–
• states the minimum maintenance grant for the 2025 academic year;
• gives the formula used to calculate the amount of maintenance grant payable to students whose relevant income is between £52,600 and £94,679.99; and
• gives an example of how the formula is used to calculate the amount of maintenance grant payable.
Article9 amends Article15 so that the increases applied to the clinical component grant and relevant incomes for the 2025 academic year are now included in that Article (in addition to the existing figures for the 2024 academic year).
Article10 amends Article20A so that the meaning of "full amount of the maintenance grant" includes grants awarded under new Articles 13BA and 13CA.
Article11 amends Article22 to allow an interview attendance allowance to be paid to a student with relevant income of up to £52,599 in the 2025 academic year (from the previous £49,999 for the 2024 academic year).
Article12 amends Article23 to increase the income threshold at or above which a disabled student allowance is not payable to £94,680 for the 2025 academic year.
Article13 gives the title of the Order and states that it comes into force 7days after it is made.
The Order was made on 27th February 2025 and came into force on 6th March 2025.
